Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 F.

Step 2

Grease a 13x9 inch pan.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl combine all ingredients. Beat for 30 seconds on low speed, stop to scrape sides of the bow. Continue beating at medium speed for 3 minutes.

Step 4

Pour batter in prepared pan or pans.

Step 5

Bake 30-35 minutes, or until baked.

Step 6

Cool, frost.

we made this cake for Valentine's Day - made in a heart-shaped pan. Skipped the cola and used butter for the shortening. I also thought the chocolate squares I had were unsweetened, well they were semi-sweet, but only had two squares - for the other two squares used the directions on the back of unsweetened cocoa to make unsweetened chocolate with the cocoa. It took use twice as long to bake the cake, but my pan was a different size than the one indicated in the recipe. Cake is very good and enjoyed with vanilla ice cream instead of frosting. Thanks for sharing!
