"These are my all time favorite cookies, they are crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle and the cornstarch is the secret, These really spread while baking so make sure to space them about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. I use white rum instead of vanilla which really makes the cookies over the top, not that they are already there LOL! Please try these, you will not be sorry!"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Step 2
Grease a large cookie sheet.
Step 3
Cream together butter and both sugars until smooth.
Step 4
Add egg, rum or vanilla; beat until smooth.
Step 5
In a small bowl combine flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Beat into the wet mixture until combined. Mix in chocolate chip[s and nuts.
Step 6
Shape into about 1-inch balls or a little larger, then roll the balls in granulated sugar.
Step 7
Place balls onto a greased baking sheet spacing 2-inches apart.
Step 8
Bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown around the edges.
Step 9
Let cool on baking pan.
