Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened (I have made them with half hard margarine and half butter)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, dark brown
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons white rum (or 2 teaspoons vanilla extract)
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped (or pecans)
  • Granulated sugar, for rolling

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 F.

  • Step 2: Grease a large cookie sheet.

  • Step 3: Cream together butter and both sugars until smooth.

  • Step 4: Add egg, rum or vanilla; beat until smooth.

  • Step 5: In a small bowl combine flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Beat into the wet mixture until combined. Mix in chocolate chip[s and nuts.

  • Step 6: Shape into about 1-inch balls or a little larger, then roll the balls in granulated sugar.

  • Step 7: Place balls onto a greased baking sheet spacing 2-inches apart.

  • Step 8: Bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown around the edges.

  • Step 9: Let cool on baking pan.
