"I tripled amounts and made this for last New Years and everyone really loved it, it has a wonderful combo of flavors and makes a wonderful appetizer. Baguettes vary in width, if your baguette is very narrow, you may need 30 slices to hold all of the filling. The bread slices can be baked ahead, covered and stored at room temperature. Prepare the crab mixture the day before; cover and refrigerate. Assemble the appetizers just before baking them."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat oven to 400°.

Step 2

Place bread slices on large ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops lightly with oil or melted butter. Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until crisp and very light brown.

Step 3

Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients except chives in medium bowl.

Step 4

Spread 1 semi-heaping tablespoonful of the crabmeat mixture on each bread slice.

Step 5

Bake about 5 minutes or until filling is hot and cheese is melted.

Step 6

Sprinkle with chives.

5 star all the way. I cut the reipe way back with no problem. Just before serving I added a bit of Thai Chili sauce and the chives on top of each crostini. We loved them and I'll be making these again very soon.
