"This is and easy to make soup and it is great for those cold winter nights! Delicious if you love onions. You can use beef bouillon powder (low sodium) instead of Bonox."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat the butter in a large pan over low heat. Add sliced onions and cook until soft, translucent and lightly browned, stirring often.

Step 2

Add the sugar and continue stirring until the onions are deep brown in colour. This may take around 20 minutes.

Step 3

Add flour and cook for 3 minutes. Add water and Bonox and simmer for 30 minutes.

Step 4

Top each slice of the baguette with a tablespoon of parmesan cheese. Toast baguette under a hot grill until golden brown.

Step 5

Serve baguette on top of the soup, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Fast and easy onion soup! Did add a wee bit of salt and a good grinding of pepper. Not able to get the bonox stock here, so used beef broth. Do think that a splash of red wine added while it is cooking would be awesome. The fond on the bottom of the pot gave it the nice dark brown colour. And I totally forgot the parsley. This is going to made alot over the winter. Thank you for sharing Tisme! Made for Pick Me! tag game.
