"The chicory coffee sets this apart from the usual cafe au lait/latte. You can buy it in larger supermarkets in cans (ground). Brew your favorite way. Prep time does not include brewing time. Add your favorite sweetener, if desired. Chicory can seem bitter if you are not used to it, but if you like dark roast coffee, you should like this."

This is such a great cup of coffee, Mikekey! I think Mia said it best..it's the perfect melange of milk and cream. It's especially rich when the chicory and coffee beans are ground and brewed together. The addition of the chicory really boosts the richness of the coffee, and the cream tempers it a bit with a wonderfully smooth creaminess. We enjoyed ours this morning with some fresh baked croissants from a local bakery. Mmmmm!

Delicious! I used Cafe du Monde coffee and chicory blend. I did not find it bitter at all but similar to an Italian roast coffee.

I loved this coffee. It was quick and easy to make with wonderful results. The slight bitter taste from the coffee is perfect. Thanks for sharing a recipe I will be enjoying for the rest of the summer, Mikekey . Made for Susie's World Tour - Cajun/Creole

Yummers! Have not chicory in years is hard to find out here, but found some and treat myself to real milk and cream when making. As I have enough ingredients left and it was good will repeat tomorrow. Thanks for the post.

Well, if I can't sleep tonight, I'll know why! I brewed the coffee in my small Bialetti, super strong. Filled the cup half full and then added the hot milk/cream. Delicious and went down like a dream! And then, because there was still milk and coffee left over, I made ANOTHER cup, this time adding some whipped cream and cinnamon over the top. Oh, yum. Goodbye, dreams! Thank you, Mike, for a wonderful recipe and the encouragement to get out that can of Cafe du Monde coffee languishing in my pantry! Made for SWT, Team IncrEdibles.

I love the bitter note of chicory coffee, and it's particularly good with the milk and cream. The perfect melange of milk and cream, not too much cream. So good! I even used real milk and cream although usually I avoid it. It's good with almond milk and almond cream, too, but actually nothing beats the real thing! Thanks for this yummy recipe :) Made for "Beverage Anyone?" Game.
