"Breadman talking is a baker in Jerusalem Israel-he has a blog in which he posts recipes. This is delicious. Makes 1 loaf. This is supposed to take 90 minutes but I find it takes a little bit longer."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Set Aside 1 cup flour.

Step 2

Mix remaining flour, yeast, white sugar and salt in a large bowl.

Step 3

In a small saucepan, heat the water, milk and 1/4 cup butter until hot to touch( no boiling)-remove from the heat and stir the hot liquid into the dry ingredients.

Step 4

Mix in the egg.

Step 5

Finally, mix in enough of the reserved flour, a little at a time, to make a very soft, but not sticky, dough. Knead for about 5 minutes then place into an oiled bowl-turn the dough to cover-let the dough rest , covered, for 10 minutes.

Step 6

Turn the dough onto a floured board and roll it into a rectangle.

Step 7

Mix together the softened 1/2 cup butter with the cinnamon -spread this paste evenly over the dough-sprinkle with the raisins and the brown sugar.

Step 8

Roll up the dough, jelly roll fashion, and pinch the seam and ends to seal.

Step 9

Roll into shape and place the rolled up dough into a greased large size

Step 10

(pullman) loaf pan.

Step 11

Cover and let rise for about 20 minutes, or more, until almost doubled.

Step 12

Bake in a preheated 375F oven for about 20 minutes or until deeply browned. Cool in the pan on a rack, removing the loaf after 10 minutes of resting.'

Step 13

Let cool completely before slicing.

Delicious! I had no problems making this bread which made me very happy, so I will use this recipe again. The bread came out nice and moist and I had to have more than 1 slice toasted for breakfast fresh out of the oven. A great one to try!

Lovely flavour! I did make a couple of changes. I used a combination of raisins and dried cranberries which I soaked in warm water to plump. And I increased the rise time to 1 hour. Because after the 20 minute rise it had not risen, and I did not want a heavy bread. Will definitely be making this again. Thank you for sharing. Made for Alphabet Recipe Tag.
