Set Aside 1 cup flour.
Mix remaining flour, yeast, white sugar and salt in a large bowl.
In a small saucepan, heat the water, milk and 1/4 cup butter until hot to touch( no boiling)-remove from the heat and stir the hot liquid into the dry ingredients.
Mix in the egg.
Finally, mix in enough of the reserved flour, a little at a time, to make a very soft, but not sticky, dough. Knead for about 5 minutes then place into an oiled bowl-turn the dough to cover-let the dough rest , covered, for 10 minutes.
Turn the dough onto a floured board and roll it into a rectangle.
Mix together the softened 1/2 cup butter with the cinnamon -spread this paste evenly over the dough-sprinkle with the raisins and the brown sugar.
Roll up the dough, jelly roll fashion, and pinch the seam and ends to seal.
Roll into shape and place the rolled up dough into a greased large size
(pullman) loaf pan.
Cover and let rise for about 20 minutes, or more, until almost doubled.
Bake in a preheated 375F oven for about 20 minutes or until deeply browned. Cool in the pan on a rack, removing the loaf after 10 minutes of resting.'
Let cool completely before slicing.
