Step by Step Method
Step 1
Pre-heat the oven to 350° F

Grease a 9-inch by 5-inch loaf pan generously with butter.

Pam spray it
Step 4
Combine the self-rising flour, sugar and pepper in a large bowl.
Step 5
Cut in the butter into the dry mixture .
Step 6
Beat the egg and buttermilk together
Step 7
Pour the wet ingredients into the flour mixture.
Step 8
Stir just until the ingredients are combined
Step 9
The batter will be wet.
Step 10
Fold the cooked bacon, cheddar cheese and chives into the batter and transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan

Bake 50 minutes until the bread is mostly done spread butter over the top and bake another 5minutes until browned
Step 12
Turn out and let rest 20 minutes on rack before cutting
