In a non-stick skillet heat the olive and saute the onions for 10 to 15 until browned. If lighter color gravy is preferred cut the time down to 8 to 10 minutes.

Step 2

Add the butter to the pan. Once butter is melted whisk in the flour and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until a deep brown.

Step 3

Stir in the herbs and minced garlic and slowly wisk in the stock and seasoning sauce (if using)and simmer over medium heat until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper

I needed some basic beef gravy so I made this one, but didn't add the herbs. It was perfect for what I needed it for. I did add salt and pepper to brighten up the flavor a bit.

I like making gravy often and this is the easiest and tastiest way to do it. We love it with the herbs and it is used in so many ways!

This is the way I make gravy too when I don't have pan drippings. It makes such a nice rich taste depending on the broth/stock you use. I suggest a low sodium broth. I am going to try your herbs the next time I make it. Thank you for the suggestions!
