"This recipe always gets ooo's and ahhh's at our table! I have given the recipe out to everyone who has tried it. This is my go to recipe when we have overnight guests as it needs to be partially made ahead (the bread soaks for several hours or overnight) If you are proactive and also prepare the berries, this is easily thrown together with minimal effort."

  • Use a high-quality French bread for the best results.
  • If you don't have all the berries listed, feel free to substitute with your favorite fruits.

  • Substitute almond milk for 2% milk - This substitution provides a dairy-free alternative that is still creamy and flavorful. Almond milk is also lower in calories than 2% milk, making this dish a bit healthier.
  • Substitute walnuts for pecans - Walnuts are a great source of healthy fats and are a good source of protein, making this dish a more balanced meal. They also have a slightly different flavor than pecans, adding a unique twist to the dish.

Coconut Pecan French Toast Replace the pecans with 1 cup of shredded coconut, and use coconut milk instead of regular milk. Add 1 teaspoon of coconut extract to the egg mixture. Top with the coconut and melted butter mixture.

Maple Bacon:

This delicious dish is the perfect accompaniment to Baked Nutty French Toast! The sweet and salty flavor of the bacon pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the french toast and berries. Plus, the added crunch of the bacon adds a delightful texture to the dish.

Blueberry Yogurt Parfait: This light and refreshing parfait is the perfect complement to the Maple Bacon and Baked Nutty French Toast. The creamy yogurt and sweet blueberries provide a delicious contrast to the savory bacon and french toast. Plus, the yogurt provides a healthy dose of protein to balance out the meal.

Made this recipe pretty much as given, although I did use a mix of frozen berries (that large bag from Costco that I use for smoothies, at times!) & we were very Satisfied with this French toast, though I'll admit that using egg bread was a first for me, 'cause I usually do up 'French' toast with a nutty, whole grain bread that we like! Still, we loved your recipe for it! Thanks for sharing!
