"Easiest way to cook bacon, plus no messy cleanup! I like to cook the whole package at once, half at a time. I cook half all the way, to crumble on salads and such. The other half I cook just shy of done, then reheat for breakfast or sandwiches. Adapted from Barefoot Contessa."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and completely cover a large, rimmed baking sheet with heavy aluminum foil, so grease can't get through.

Step 2

Lay bacon out and grind some pepper over the slices, if desired. If you can't fit all the slices on the pan, lay the remaining bacon across the ends to hold them down.

Step 3

Cooking time will vary based on your oven, here is a general guide, but it may be less.

Step 4

Thin cut bacon, bake 11 minutes, flip bacon over, bake 4-9 more minutes, or until done.

Step 5

Thick cut bacon, bake 13 minutes, flip bacon over, bake 7-12 more minutes, or until done.

Step 6

If you save your bacon grease, wait until pan has cooled enough to handle without worrying about burning yourself, then slowly pour bacon grease over one corner of the baking pan into your container. Discard foil.
