"This is one of those yummy belly warming stews that I love having after spending the day out in the cold. I like putting this in the oven just before going out to shovel all the snow from the driveway and then coming in when it’s just about ready."

Step 1
Season the meat with salt and pepper and brown in the oil along with the onions in a dutch oven or heavy bottom pot.
Step 2
Add the remaining ingredients and simmer in 350 oven for 2 hours or until meat is tender.
Step 3
Taste and adjust seasoning.
Step 4
Thicken sauce if desired with a mixture of 2 tablespoons each cornstarch and water.
