"Don't know why it's called the Lucky Dozen, but it sure sounds good! Especially the rum-soaked cherries! That alone makes this recipe a keeper!"

Step by Step Method

FOR THE RUM SOAKED CHERRIES

Step 1

Combine the cherries, rum and water in a glass container and let soak for a day, or at least a few hours. Will keep up to 4 days.

FOR THE COCKTAIL

Step 2

Pour the rum, liqueur and cane syrup into a mixing glass. Add dashes of both bitters.

Step 3

Add ice and stir gently to incorporate.

Step 4

Strain over a Double Rocks glass full of ice. The drink will appear “short,” but that's ok. The drink will also settle.

Step 5

Add the last dash of orange bitters. Garnish with a rum soaked cherry and a slice of orange on a skewer.

One of my fave recipes. I posted as written, but usually omit the simple syrup because it's sweet enough without it.
