"For when you don't want to put in a lot of effort and don't want much washing up to do afterwards. I would just serve as is, but you can frost it if you want to. If you're not sure you'll like the combination of the cloves with the chocolate, try adding just a tiny bit to a small portion of the dough and see if you like the taste--or just leave it out altogether. The cloves strike some people as odd, though I myself like this combination and find it makes the chocolate (which I normally don't like) more palatable to me."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, salt and spices together into an 8-inch X 8-inch pan; sift if not using pre-sifted flour.
Step 2
Make 3 holes in the mixture.
Step 3
Pour oil in one hole, vinegar into the 2nd and vanilla in the 3rd.
Step 4
Pour 1 c water over all.
Step 5
Stir with a fork until all ingredients are blended.
Step 6
Do NOT remove batter from pan.
Step 7
Bake at 350°F 45 minutes.
