"Just a bit tired of paying the big bucks for a small can of milk... This works really well for baking, but I haven't tried it yet for making my famous key lime pie. Store-bought sweetened condensed undergoes a chemical reaction when combined with citrus juice that makes it set up - I'm not sure this homemade version will do the same. Will update when I find out!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Put the powdered milk and the sugar in a blender. Add the boiling water and the melted butter. Blend the mixture on "high" for a full minute.

Step 2

Pour the mixture into a clean jar, cover, and refrigerate overnight.

Step 3

The next day, stir the mixture again. The final product should be a creamy thickened mixture that's equal in consistency with store-bought sweetened condensed milk.

Yield is similar to what's in one store-bought can
