Step by Step Method

Step 1

Whisk the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt together in a medium bowl. Set aside. In a large bowl, whisk the butter and sugars together until smooth. Whisk in the egg and yolk, then blend in the vanilla extract. Add the dry ingredients to the wet. Stir with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until cookie dough comes together. Stir in the pretzel pieces and mini M&M's. The dough will be very soft.

Step 2

Cover and refrigerate dough for at least 3 hours, or up to 4 days. (If chilling longer than a few hours, allow dough to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, to soften.)

Step 3

Preheat oven to 325°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set aside. Roll dough into balls, using 2 scant tablespoons of dough. Place balls 3 inches apart on the baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 13 minutes, or until lightly browned on the sides and centers still appear soft. Remove from the oven. Sprinkle the sea salt over warm cookies. Cool 5 minutes, then transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely Makes about 2 dozen cookies

Step 4

The cookies will be soft and chewy.

Pleases all age levels – young and old. The oldest one in the house, hubs, couldn’t keep his hands off of them and it was the first cookies to go, so for next time, doubling the recipe. We love the saltiness of the pretzels with the choclatiness of the M&M’s – making for a wonderful tasty treat. Thanks, Teresa, for sharing.

The kids went bonkers when I pulled out the cookie jar! They love anything with chocolate and these were a big hit with both the young and old. Dh ate half a batch himself! My dd went home with the recipe.

These cookies are really yummy and my grandkids are going to love them on their cookie tray. I didn't read the recipe correctly and so I used regular size m & m's -- the kids definitely won't mind. Love the combo of the pretzels and m & m's. I made them slightly smaller so they will last longer. : )
