Then changed to Genius Kitchen This recipe I make for My mother in law every birthday and its her absolute favorite She states her favorite Snack Cake was a Suzi Q which of course they do not make anymore. So when I found this recipe online she was so happy to have a piece of her childhood back."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, beat together cake mix, water, vegetable oil and eggs until smooth.
Step 2
Pour into a greased and floured 13" x 9" pan and bake according to the package directions.
Step 3
When cake is cooled, remove from pan to flat surface and cut cake in half horizontally.
Step 4
To prepare filling, cook flour and milk in a saucepan over low heat until thickened; whisking often.
Step 5
Cool mixture COMPLETELY in refrigerator.
Step 6
While heated mixture cools, beat together sugar, Crisco, salt and vanilla.
Step 7
Add to cooled flour/milk mixture and beat until smooth and creamy.
Step 8
Spread filling on 1 half of cake. Place other half of cake on top and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
