Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Step 2

Combine flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda; set aside.

Step 3

Combine sugar, butter, vanilla and lemon juice in large bowl; cream until fluffy.

Step 4

Add eggs, one at a time (beating after each).

Step 5

Stir together jam and buttermilk; add to creamed mixture, alternating with dry ingredients. Mix until JUST BLENDED.

Step 6

Spoon batter into 2 greased 9x5 loaf pans.

Step 7

Bake 55 minutes; cool 15 minutes, then remove to a cooling rack.

Very good breakfast bread which we enjoyed. We used blueberry jam as that is what we had on hand but I think any jam or jelly will work well. Thanks for sharing!
