"I was looking though my copy of TOH's 2005 Annual Recipes,and found a recipe for Great Northern Bean Stew. The original recipe was sent to them by Mildred Sherrer of Bay City,TX.,but I didn't have a lot of ingredients that were called for. So, I just adapted the recipe to what was on hand.Cooking time depends on how long the vegetables need to get tender.As long as the meat and onions are cooked first,I bet this would work in a crockpot on low for about 4 to 6 hours. Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a dutch oven over medium heat,add meat and onion then cook until meat is lightly browned and onion is crisp-tender.
Step 2
If needed drain,then return to pan,then add the next 10 ingredients.
Step 3
If you need more liquid add stock and bring to a boil.
Step 4
Cover and reduce heat to simmer let cook for 50 to 60 minutes,or until vegetables are tender.
