"This is a nice sauce that you can adjust to your prefered level spicyness; just increase or decrease the cayenne. I keep this in a mason jar in the fridge."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat.

Step 2

Add onion, chili powder and cayenne.

Step 3

Cook for about 10 minutes, until onions are soft.

Step 4

Stir in ketchup, honey, vinegar and mustard.

Step 5

Gently simmer another 10 minutes.

Step 6

Taste, and add salt and pepper, if needed.

It's a great bbq sauce, nice and spicy perfect for this spice loving family! I used this on chicken and thinking to use this on my next rack of ribs. Into my Summer Cookbook with this one and an extra copy for my recipe drawer!

Great tasting sauce Bea! I made it as called for in the recipe the first time around and we thought it was just right for heat for us, though for those who don't like spicy, make sure you cut back a little on the cayenne! I used it on boneless pork ribs, but next time I think I will try it with chicken, and I'm sure we will love that too. Thank you for posting it for us! Linda
