Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a large bowl, beat the applesauce, sugar, shortening and eggs.
Step 2
Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
Step 3
Gradually beat into applesauce mixture until blended well.
Step 4
Stir in raisin, chips and nuts.
Step 5
Pour into a greased 13x9 pan.
Step 6
Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter.
Step 7
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Step 8
Cool on wire rack.
