Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. (They used a wood stove)

Step 2

Grease and flour 9x9 cake pan.

Step 3

Sift dry ingredients.

Step 4

Add raisins.

Step 5

Cream butter and sugar and add egg.

Step 6

Alternate flour mix and buttermilk.

Step 7

Pour into cake pan.

Step 8

Bake 20 minutes? Until toothpick comes out clean. Check at 12 minutes.

Glaze


Step 9

Peel of one orange grated.

Step 10

Squeeze juice from orange and put in 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar and a dash of salt.

Step 11

Let stand while cake is baking.

Step 12

Polk cake with fork so glaze goes into cake.

Step 13

Pour on cake when taken from oven.
