"Everybody has a ham glaze, and all of them are similar yet different. This one is mine, made up on a whim because I didn't feel like simply roasting a ham for dinner."

Step 1
Preheat oven to 325F.
Step 2
Place ham, cut side down, on a rack in a roasting pan large enough the meat doesn't touch the sides.
Step 3
Score ham with a knife to a depth of about 1/2-inch all over.
Step 4
Combine ketchup, brown sugar and lemon juice; rub all over ham.
Step 5
Pour root beer over top of ham.
Step 6
Cover and bake at 325F for about four hours (25 minutes per pound), basting with pan drippings every 30 minutes or so.
Step 7
Remove from oven and let rest, covered loosely, for 15 minutes before carving.
