Step 1: Preheat oven to 325F.
Step 2: Place ham, cut side down, on a rack in a roasting pan large enough the meat doesn't touch the sides.
Step 3: Score ham with a knife to a depth of about 1/2-inch all over.
Step 4: Combine ketchup, brown sugar and lemon juice; rub all over ham.
Step 5: Pour root beer over top of ham.
Step 6: Cover and bake at 325F for about four hours (25 minutes per pound), basting with pan drippings every 30 minutes or so.
Step 7: Remove from oven and let rest, covered loosely, for 15 minutes before carving.
