  • 1 (9 pound) cooked ham, bone-in
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 (12 ounce) cans root beer

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 325F.

  • Step 2: Place ham, cut side down, on a rack in a roasting pan large enough the meat doesn't touch the sides.

  • Step 3: Score ham with a knife to a depth of about 1/2-inch all over.

  • Step 4: Combine ketchup, brown sugar and lemon juice; rub all over ham.

  • Step 5: Pour root beer over top of ham.

  • Step 6: Cover and bake at 325F for about four hours (25 minutes per pound), basting with pan drippings every 30 minutes or so.

  • Step 7: Remove from oven and let rest, covered loosely, for 15 minutes before carving.
