"Found @ dianasdessertsdotcom & contributed there by Deolinda Maria Avila who is the author of FOODS OF THE AZORES ISLANDS Cookbook. These mini-tarts are such an easy-fix dessert & also perfect for the sweet bite part of an appetizer buffet. Prep time was estimated by me & does not include the time to prepare the tart pastry (See NOTE under Prep Steps). ENJOY!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Butter & cover 24 tins w/the pastry of your choice. Mix all ingredients well, beating a little. Fill tins half way. Bake in a preheated 375 F (190 C) oven for about 20 min or until cream is solid. Remove tarts from tins while hot & allow to fully cool.

NOTE FROM ME: For the record, this suggestion was NOT A PART OF THE RECIPE, but I believe that almost every convenience food has a place in my kitchen & this is definitely 1 of those times. I'd be buying some prepared tart shells or rolled dough & moving on w/the real heart of the recipe -- its cream filling.
