"Another one of my fish recipes I really love making, I like to use cod because it's thick and meaty. The batter gives the fish a thick, fluffy coating that even non-fish eaters will like."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a medium bowl stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch, salt, garlic powder and cayenne pepper.

Step 2

In a large bowl, beat together eggs and milk until smooth. Mix in beer. Stir in flour mixture. Mixture will be thick, but you can add more beer if you feel it is too thick.

Step 3

In a deep fryer or a large heavy pan, heat oil to 375 degrees F.

Step 4

Coat fish in batter and submerge in hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes. Cook in small batches until all fish is cooked.

This batter makes some delicious tasting fish! I used haddock because that is our fish of choice. I made sure I got thick fillets to make this. The batter was delicious and the fish was moist, with a golden brown crust that made you want to take another piece! Fries and slaw completed the meal. MMmmmm good!!

Mild beer battered fish. Flavor is awesome and the batter makes the fish! Served pub fries with the fish which was really enjoyed by all!

OMG this is so delicious! I cut the cod in three inch long pieces to make them easier to handle. I subbed sweet paprika for the cayenne pepper as my DH and MIL can't tolerate that spice. But otherwise I made it as directed. I used Coors Light beer and the batter fried up light and crispy with the fish inside cooked to perfection. I served it with coleslaw, tarter sauce and French Fries! Thanks for posting! Made for Billboard tag. :)
