Step by Step Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Cake:

Cream butter with sugar.

To this add milk and vanilla

Put baking powder into cornstarch and add flour.

Sift 3 times

Now gradually beat in flour mixture, and flavor with vanilla.

Beat all together thoroughly.

Then fold in the beaten egg whites.

Put the mixture in three ( im guessing 4) 9" round cake pans that have been buttered after being lined with paper also well buttered.
Step 11
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and bake in this moderate oven 25 to 30 minutes. Take out of oven, allow to cool in pans.

For Frosting:

Beat the egg whites until stiff, then add the sugar gradually.
Step 14
Continue beating until the mixture is smooth and light.
Step 15
Add flavoring and mix well.
