Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat butter

Step 2

Add onions,leek and shallots. Add carrots and celeriac

Step 3

Add stock, potatoes, meats and add bread

Step 4

Simmer for 30 minutes until veggies cooked (Use a potato masher to give it a creamy look just a couple because you want to see chunks in it also)

Those peasants knew how to throw together a yummy soup! Made this exactly as listed, using a marble rye. I also made croutons with the bread for on top of the soup. I would make this again. Thanks Dee!

This soup is terrific, 10 stars for this one! I did fry the bacon until almost crispy and cubed the smoked sausage. Used a rustic rye bread and enjoyed the bit of tang it added and the thicker texture of the soup. Love fresh ground nutmeg so didnt use it sparingly. Will be making this one often! Made and reviewed for Susie's World Tour 2019 - Benelux.
