Step 1

Place ground beef, shallot and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Cook until beef is evenly browned.

Step 3

Drain off any grease.

Step 4

Stir the salsa, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce into the beef mixture.

Step 5

Season with salt and pepper.

Step 6

Heat to a simmer over low heat, and cook until thoroughly heated, stirring frequently to prevent it from burning on the bottom.

Step 7

Spoon the mixture into the pita shells.

Step 8

Top with lettuce if you like.

Delicious. just enough "sloppy" so it doesn't run all over but is still lovely and saucy. I cut the recipe in half but kept the full amount of garlic and used medium salsa. This recipe will be made again and again. Thanks QueenBea for a lovely Saturday night supper.
