Step by Step Method

Step 1

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil (using the 1/8 teaspoon salt).

Step 2

Meanwhile make the sauce by heating a large skillet or pot over medium high heat. Add onion and garlic, cook stirring until for 5-10 minutes or until onion is translucent. Stir in beef and fennel seed and cook until browned (under 5 minutes). Stir in tomatoes and next 3 ingredients (-oregano) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Add pasta to boiling water and cook according to package directions; adding the broccoli rabe to the pasta water 5 minutes before pasta is done. Drain pasta and the broccoli rabe; return to pot. Add sauce and toss to mix.

Delicious! I needed to make a couple of changes, used ground chicken and subbed the broccoli rabe for regular that I steamed and then added. Love the fennel in this! DH was very happy with his dinner as was I. Another keeper Ellie! Thank you for sharing! Made for Billboard Recipe Tag.
