Step 1
Preheat oven to 350' F.

Grease muffin tins.

Soak bran in hot water at least 10 minutes to soften it.

Drain thoroughly, pressing excess water out.

Combine flour, bran, soda, salt, and orange rind.

Beat egg and whip in oil, molasses, and buttermilk.

Add dry ingredients and stir until just blended.

If using raisins, fold them in.
