Step 4: Drain thoroughly, pressing excess water out.
Step 5: Combine flour, bran, soda, salt, and orange rind.
Step 6: Beat egg and whip in oil, molasses, and buttermilk.
Step 7: Add dry ingredients and stir until just blended.
Step 8: If using raisins, fold them in.
Step 9: Spoon mixture into 12 muffin cups.
Step 10: Bake 25-30 minutes.
