Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a saucepan combine first 8 ingredients (-bay leaf) over medium high heat and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue boiling for another 10-15 minutes or until syrup is thick and mixture is reduced to 2 cups. Discard bay leaf and let syrup cool.

Step 2

Strain into a bowl and add the juices and then transfer to ice cream maker and process according to manufacturer's directions. Transfer to container, cover, freeze until firm (this will take at least 6 hours or up to 3 days).

I will start out by saying that I screwed this up. The recipe says to boil down to two cups. I didn't measure. I am sure I had too much liquid, which is why it's not really firm. However, this tasted great! I liked the ginger and cloves. It was awesome. I'll make this again. The right way.
