Fry bacon until crisp; drain well on paper towel; crumble and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl combine dry ingredients.
Using pastry blender cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.
Add cheese and bacon.
Gradually pour in milk stirring with a fork to make a soft dough.
Turn dough out on floured work surface and knead for 8-10 turns.
Roll out .5 inch thick and cut in squares. Transfer to floured baking sheet.
Bake at 450° F for 10-15 minutes.
Serve warm with butter.
