"Both moms make this. It is good over baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, wide egg noodles, toast, biscuits or waffles. You can sub dried beef for this or add a little to hamburger when adding water"

  • For the ground beef, choose a lean variety to reduce the amount of fat in the gravy.
  • If you choose to add the optional dried beef, make sure to chop it into small pieces to ensure even cooking.

  • Substitute ground turkey for the ground beef: This substitution is a healthier option that still provides the same flavor and texture.
  • Substitute vegetable broth for the water: This substitution adds more flavor to the gravy and is a great option for vegetarians.

Vegetarian Version Substitute the ground beef with 1 pound of crumbled tofu. Use vegetable broth instead of water. Omit the dried beef.

Garlic Herb Roasted Potatoes: Roasted potatoes seasoned with garlic, herbs, and olive oil make a delicious side dish to accompany Mom's Hamburger Gravy. The potatoes are roasted in the oven, which brings out their natural sweetness and makes them the perfect accompaniment to the savory gravy.

Crispy Baked Onion Rings: Crispy baked onion rings are the perfect crunchy side to Mom's Hamburger Gravy. The onion rings are made with panko bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese, giving them a delicious flavor and crunchy texture. The sweet and savory onion rings pair perfectly with the flavorful gravy, creating a satisfying and memorable meal.
