"Old-fashioned cinnamon rolls with a delicious gooey, topping. We always had these for breakfast on holidays, since Mom always made up the batter for hot rolls the day before. You can make up the cinnamon rolls and let them rise the day before, then refrigerate til morning. That way you can have a special breakfast ready in just 30 minutes and your house will smell heavenly. Plus you'll get lots of hugs and kisses from an appreciative family. Recipe requires about 6 hours total rise time. #recipe14877"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Start the dough the morning before, or even 2 days before the holiday, because between 2 risings for the dough and another for the cinnamon rolls, you need around 6 hours total rising time.

Step 2

Make hot roll dough per recipe. After second rise, separate out half the dough for cinnamon rolls, put remaining dough in fridge, covered, for making dinner rolls later.

Step 3

Prepare a 9 x 13 pan by covering with half the melted butter, all the brown sugar and nuts. If you are baking now, preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 4

On a floured surface, roll dough into a 12 x 16 rectangle. Brush dough with remaining butter, sprinkle with granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Step 5

Facing the short-end, roll up the cinnamon roll tightly, pinching to seal along seam and ends. Using a thread, cut into 12 pieces.

Step 6

Place the cinnamon rolls in the pan and allow to rise in a warm place for 2 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 7

At this point, you can cover and put in the fridge overnight, or you can bake them.

Step 8

In the morning, preheat oven to 375 degrees, bake for 25 minutes or until done.
