Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350F. Cream the sugar and butter together. Beat in the eggs; add the molasses and buttermilk and mix together. Add the flour, salt raisins, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon. Dissolve the baking soda in the boiling water, pour into the batter and mix all together well, but do not overbeat.

Step 2

Pour into a buttered 9x13 inch pan or bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out dry or your finger doesn't leave a dent. Leave plain or sprinkle with powdered sugar and make some home make whipped cream for the side :-)

So good, we loved this and it brought back a ton of memories when my grandma used to make this cake, I used a 13x9 pan and it was baked in 40 minutes, this is for sure a recipe I will keep to make again, thanks Daisymamoses
