Step by Step Method
Step 1
Gently crumble the ground beef into a bowl.
Step 2
Whisk seasoning into flour
Step 3
Add the flour mixture and mix gently.
Step 4
Add three tablespoons milk and mix gently.
Step 5
The mixture should be moist, but not gooey.
Step 6
You can add a bit more flour, if needed.
Step 7
Form the meat into 4 patties and place on waxed paper.
Step 8
Cover with another piece of waxed paper.
Step 9
Using a cutting board, press down on the patties gently and flatten them.
Step 10
The finished patties should be thin and about the diameter of a saucer.

They will shrink!
Step 12
Fry in a bit of shortening until brown and crispy, turning only once, if possible.

Don't press them with the spatula.
Step 14
Remove from pan and top with cheese.
Step 15
Remove grease from skillet, but don’t wipe.
Step 16
Place buns in skillet, return to stove top and "toast" over medium heat.
Step 17
Place burgers on buns.
Step 18
Add toppings and condiments of choice.
