Step by Step Method

Step 1

Score meat, diagonally, on both sides. Place in a large zipper type bag.

Step 2

Combine remaining ingredients except water and cornstarch and pour over meat. Seal and refrigerate several hours or overnight, turning bag occasionally.

Step 3

Reserve marinade. Place meat on a broiler pan rack. Let sit to warm to room temperature.

Step 4

Preheat broiler.

Step 5

Place rack 6-7 inches from heat. Broil 6-7 minutes per side for medium doneness.

Step 6

Place meat on cutting board and tent with foil.

Step 7

Meanwhile, pour reserved marinade into a small saucepan; bring to a boil.

Step 8

Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to the marinade. Stir 2 minutes or until thickened.

Step 9

Slice meat against grain and serve with sauce.

Great steak! Made marinade as directed except using Chinese rice wine in place of the sherry and chives in place on the green onions. We marinated the steak for about 8 hours and it was tender and delicious. Thanks for sharing!
