Lightly butter baking sheet, 15 1/2 x 12 inches.
Arrange lollipop sticks on baking sheet.
Combine butter, corn syrup and sugar in a large saucepan.
Heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to medium and continue to cook, stirring frequently till temperature reads 270 on a candy thermometer.
Add in coloring if desired.
Drop mixture by tablespoonfuls over end of each lollipop stick.
If desires, while lollipops are still hot, they can be decorated with sprinkles.
Cool thoroughly before removing from baking sheet.
