"Beef Stroganoff is my favorite meal, and this is one that I have made time and again. I just love it. Creamy and rich with lots of flavor, you should try it! You can add in 1 teaspoon yellow mustard, and 1/3 cup red or white wine of choice (I use Chardonnay), if you want to for even more flavor. So yummy with a nice salad and rolls on the side."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Put water on to boil for pasta. Add 2 tablespoons salt to water. When water comes to a boil, add pasta of your choice, and cook according to the package directions, until al dente. When done, drain and set aside.

Step 2

In the meantime: Cook onions in a frying pan using enough margarine so they don't stick to the pan. When onions are soft, add ground beef. Fry until cooked through. Drain off any excess grease.

Step 3

Turn heat to medium-high, and add mushrooms (drained), soup (and mustard , if using), and mix well.

Step 4

Stir in 2 cups of water, add beef bouillon or granules, and mix into the water. Stir all, and let cook for a few minutes to blend flavors. If it starts bubbling too hard, turn heat down to medium heat.

Step 5

In a measuring cup, mix 4 tablespoons of constarch with about 1/4 cup of COLD water. When you add this to the mixure, you want the mixture to become thick. (Keep in mind you will be adding sour cream (and wine if using)which will thin the sauce, so thicken accordingly). Add more constarch and water mixture, if needed, to desired consistency.

Step 6

Turn heat down to low, and add sour cream (and wine, if using). Do NOT BOIL or cook on high, or it will curdle. Let simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 7

Season with pepper and salt, as desired.

Step 8

Add Kitchen Bouquet, and mix in, to get a nice dark color for the sauce.

Step 9

Serve over your favorite pasta.

This makes a lot of thick creamy delicious sauce and I had enough left over for another meal, which we were happy about! The sauce is rich in flavors that mingle in your mouth and make you want to keep on eating. Very much enjoyed by us!

Another Linda winner! I made this twice, first time other cutting back on the water to use less cornstarch I made as posted with excellent results! Second time around thinking to my low carbers with health issues I thickened with xanthan gum with equally great results. Served over Shirakiki Fettuccine. Recipe into my Family Favourites Cookbook right along side of my moms! Thank you Linda.

We are into comfort during these winter months upon us and saw this and thought it looked like a great recipe to make. My family and I loved every last morsel! It was so good that we all decided to add it to the list of our favorites to have again sometime this month!

Perfect snowy weather dinner - Delicious. I cut back on the water (we don't like too much sauce), used cottage cheese instead of sour cream and sprinkled on some Hungarian hot paprika when I served it. This will be made again for sure Thanks Linda
