"Kraft's Original Shake 'N Bake is 1 of the convenience products I've been unable to get here in Iceland & I have always relied on my friends or family traveling from the US to bring it to me. BUT now thanks Top Secret Recipes by Todd Wilbur, I can have it any time I need it -- AND so can you. According to Todd, "You may notice the color is a bit different in this clone when compared to the real thing. That's because this recipe doesn't include beet powder - A hard-to-find ingredient that lends a red/orange tint to the original. But after you sink your teeth into the chicken baked the same way as described on the Shake 'N Bake box, you'll swear it's the same stuff." ENJOY!"
Combine all the ingredients in a sml bowl & stir to combine.
TO USE: Prepare chicken following the same directions described on a box of the original mix using 2 1/2 lbs of bone-in chicken (6-8 pieces, with or without skin) OR 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast halves. Preheat oven to 400F, then moisten the chicken w/water. Use a lrg plastic bag for the coating & use the same steps as described on the original pkg: "Shake moistened chicken, 1-2 pieces at a time, in shaker bag w/coating mixture. Discard any remaining mixture & bag. Bake at 400F in an ungreased or foil-lined 15x10x1-in baking pan until cooked through. (BONE-IN: 45 min - BONELESS: 20 min)"
EDITED TO ADD: In response to reviewer comment, I have doubled the ingredient amounts to make the mixture better able to coat & produce finished chicken pieces as stated in the recipe. I trust this will correct the issue of quantity of the mixture.

I really like this but had to increase the onion and garlic powder, I also added a pinch of red pepper. I am saving this as a keeper to make again. Thanks for sharing this recipe TwisSis
This made flavorful and very juicy chicken, but as written, there was not enough to coat 6 thighs (2 1/5 lbs total) so I had to make a second batch of coating mix. Luckily it was easy to make.
