Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a medium-size saucepan, combine sugar, margarine, raisins, water, spices and molasses.

Bring to a boil and boil 3 minutes.

Remove from heat and cool thoroughly.
Step 4
When mixture is cool, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 5
Combine flour, baking soda and baking powder and add to mixture, mixing well with a wooden spoon.

Spread evenly in a greased and floured 13-by-9-inch pan.
Step 7
Bake in preheated oven 20 to 25 minutes or until cake tests clean with a toothpick.
Step 8
Remove from oven and cool completely.
Step 9
Top with powdered sugar sifted over cake or frosting.
Frosting:
Step 10
In large bowl, combine all ingredients.
Step 11
Mix until smooth.
Step 12
Frost cake.
Step 13
Cut into bars to serve.
