"These grilled pork sausage burgers with maple syrup sauce add a touch of sweetness to the savory sausage patties. Beef is so expensive right now and we all like ground breakfast sausage in my family. (I used Jimmy Dean's ground breakfast sausage.)"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper to prepare the maple syrup sauce. Set aside.

Step 3

Divide the pork sausage into four equal portions and shape them into patties.

Step 4

Place the sausage patties on the preheated grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Step 5

During the last few minutes of cooking, top each patty with a slice of American cheese to melt.

Step 6

If desired, lightly toast the potato buns on the grill.

Step 7

Remove the sausage patties from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing each sausage patty on a bun. Add any optional toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, or mustard.

Step 9

Drizzle the maple syrup sauce over the sausage patty or serve it on the side for dipping.
