Step by Step Method

Step 1

Start a grill or preheat broiler. Mix together all but 1 teaspoon garlic, some salt and pepper, half the smoked paprika (pimentón) and olive oil. Brush one side of fish steaks with this mixture (if you are broiling, brush both sides). Place on grill, sauced side down, and brush other side. Grill or broil, turning once, until done, 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, combine mayonnaise with remaining garlic and smoked paprika; add a little lemon juice and whisk; taste and adjust seasoning. Serve fish with a dollop of aioli. May serve with a sprinkling of lemon and either parsley, chives, scallions or cilantro, if desired.

Definitely more than 5 stars! We loved everything about this dish! Used fresh cod portions that were cooked in the broiler of the toaster oven. For the paprika, I used 1 teaspoon each of sweet paprika, smoked paprika, and hot paprika. This gave the fish a slight smoky flavor with a bit of a heat punch. And it gave the aioli a really balanced flavor profile that we absolutely loved! Thanks for sharing - this is a KEEPER!

Delicious! Of course because I was taking a photo my family started before me and all I could here was "This fish is great!" I used swordfish and grilled my fish.

Great way to make fish! I had 2 cod fillets and cooked them them on the grill for about 10 minutes. It was flaky and delicious. Loved the aioli!

We would give this 10 stars. This is so delicious. We used 2 pieces of Cod we had left over from another meal. We used the low setting on our broiler. I broiled it for 10 minutes turning it over after 5 minutes. The fish was the best fish dish we have had in years. Then came the aioli. It was fabulous and went so well with the cod and all the seasonings.
