Step by Step Method

Step 1

In large dutch oven or covered skillet fry bacon until it has rendered most of its fat and has begun to brown, about 5 minutes. Remove bacon to a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 2

Remove all but about a tablespoon of the bacon grease or use olive oil to make this healthier. Add the onion and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the green beans and potatoes and enough water to almost cover them. Add the chicken seasoning and worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Season with salt and pepper, to taste, then cover the pan and simmer until the beans are very tender, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding more water if necessary.

We loved them! Fresh string beans, potatoes and salt pork is what I used.

My wife used frozen whole green beans and it didn't make a bit of difference in the taste. We loved the total comfort package and it tasted so good! My kids had second helpings and ate it all up. We will eat this again definitely!
