Step by Step Method
Step 1
Place the popcorn (and peanuts, if using) in a large bowl. Set aside. Have a wooden spoon handy.
Step 2
Place the condensed milk, brown sugar, butter and corn syrup in a large, heavy saucepan. Add a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat to soft ball stage, 235 degrees F.
Tip: if you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test by dropping a little of the mixture in a cup of cold water. If it forms a soft ball, it's done!
Step 3
Pour over the popcorn and mix with a wooden spoon until everything is evenly coated.
Step 4
Eat as is or form into balls. Store any leftovers (really???) in a covered container.
