"This cheap easy kid-friendly recipe is a combination of meat sauce spaghetti made like lasagna. It also works well with macaroni or ziti. This recipe is perfect for vacuum packaging individual portions and freezing them for leftover night. "

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and rinse under cold water and place into a bowl. Add a little oil to prevent sticking.

Step 2

In a large pot cook the onion in the olive oil until translucent. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender. Add the ground beef; cook and stir until the beef is evenly browned. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and the wine, and simmer to reduce the liquid (35-45 minutes). Add salt and pepper. Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce mixture. Mix well.

Step 3

Spread the mixture into the prepared pan. Place slices of mozzarella cheese to cover completely. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Step 4

Bake in the preheated oven until sauce is thickened, about 30-35 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before cutting into portions.

This is a quick easy and tasty meal to put together. I doubled this recipe and had to add a bit more spaghetti sauce than the recipe called for as it would of been a bit dry. It fed 6 hungry men with no complaints. Made for the Billboard Recipe Tag Game.
