Step by Step Method

Step 1

Favorite Combos: Add mint extract instead of vanilla; and add crushed candy canes, walnuts, or mini marshmallows. Peanut butter fudge with crushed chocolate cookies. Semi sweet and dark chocolate chips with peanuts. Dark chocolate w/dried cherries. White chocolate with dried apricots and pecans. Semi sweet with amaretto and pecans. Semi sweet with toffee. Butterscotch with dark mini chocolate chips and peanuts. White chocolate and pistachios.

Step 2

Pan ... A basic 9x9" pan. Line the pan with parchment, wax paper, or foil. This way, all the sides and bottom are covered. And, when the fudge is cooled, you can simple turn it over; and the fudge comes right out. I prefer wax paper or parchment.

Step 3

Fudge ... Add the chips, condensed milk, and salt to a glass bowl; and, microwave for 1 1/2 minutes or medium power. Remove and stir. Cook another minute, remove and stir. Cook another minute, remove, add the extract or liquor, and stir. It should be creamy and smooth. If not, cook another 30 seconds to a minute. Every microwave is different, so you need to just adjust the time accordingly.

Step 4

Optional ... If you want - stir in any nuts, dried fruit, mini marshmallows, cookie crumbles, candy, etc.

Step 5

Pan ... Pour the fudge into the pan. Refrigerate 30 min to 1 hour, until firm and cooled. Lift the fudge out and flip over; then, cut into pieces. It doesn't have to stay refrigerated; it is fine in a tupperware container or tin on the counter. Make sure to line the container with parchment, wax paper or foil; so, it doesn't stick.

Step 6

FYI: A creative note ... Make a half batch using dark chocolate; and, put it in the pan to cool; and top with chopped peanuts or coconut. Then, using the remaining milk and, this time, peanut butter chips; make another half batch. Then, pour on top. Now, you have a 2 layered fudge. Same recipe, just 2 flavors. And, this can be done with any combination and any flavors.

Step 7

Serve your fudge on a serving platter; or, give to a friend for a gift. Perfect easy gift for the holidays - ENJOY!!!
